I don't-- there's not a point in trying anymore. Not if she's not--

[deepest and sincerest of apologies to those who are currently asleep in this early morning, but you'd probably be jolted from your slumber by a rather loud slam of a door against the wall.
apparently someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today... or lost his Zero mask.]
{ooc; I wouldn't mind if a character decides to be the one who took it. I don't specifically have anyone in mind so... if you feel like it, go ahead. If not, we can just assume he flushed the mask down the toilet or something. YES, I'M KIDDING.}

I knew it was only a matter of time...
Teacher too.
Does anyone stop to think that maybe we don't really get out of here and continue our lives, uninterrupted? If there are so many different worlds we all come from, and different versions of the same people- how can anyone say that we'll just go home eventually and finish our own lives?
Maybe we're just a lot like the version that does continue our life.
What if those of us that have been here this long... Aren't ever going to leave?
At least it isn't that way for him.

Notes augmented
We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!
Product tweaks and bug kill
- In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
- If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
- The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
- If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
- If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
- Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)
New FCK fixes rich text editor!
- We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
- When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
- RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
- An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
- The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers
LiveJournal Cares
We’re pleased to introduce you to lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.
Papered in postcards
A couple of weeks ago, we asked you to send in postcards to surround us with LiveJournal community. Thanks for coming through! We've received postcards all the way from Germany, Finland, and Canada and from all over the US, including Texas, Florida, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, Hawaii, and Oklahoma just to name just a handful. We're thrilled with our improved decor.

Please keep the love coming for one more week by writing to Frank the Goat, Esq., c/o LiveJournal, Inc., 539 Bryant Street, Suite 210, San Francisco, CA 94107. Be sure to include your username, since we'll be drawing the names of ten random contributors next Thursday to win paid account credits!
Photos of the week
We have more dazzling images posted by talented LiveJournal photographers from around the world. We're hoping to span the entire globe, so please continue posting and tagging. Of course, you can also sit back and enjoy the view at lj_photophile.
You can see a sample of this week's gorgeous photos and check out spotlight communities and awesome user content after the jump!

It's a shame. I never did learn fully of the things she had discussed. There was a potential to learn so much from it, and yet--well. I am used to setbacks.
I am grateful that at the very least, my mind has returned to me. With that, back to work.
Ah, yes... I have been here over a month, have I not? Perhaps I will start looking towards moving to the upper level, although moving all this equipment may prove to be a tiresome task.

The world certainly does look different in the daylight. Still, I much prefer the light of the moon. It's so... How do you call it? Mysterious? An enigma?
What a shame that the girl is gone, though. Definitely no Lucy, but she could have been a decent enough substitute in the meanwhile. What to do now? Booooring. Come now, Purgatorium, where does your excitement really lie?

Sorry guys. I loved playing here more than I can say, but I'm having to cut out a lot of things out of my life for now. I hope to come back at some point, either with these characters or some other, idk.
Anyway, I love you guys a lot. If you want to stay in contact with me, I'll still be occasionally using deternot as my personal journal and will be checking my flist, and I might be on AIM at analyzethis0512 every once in a while as well.

[ without the feeling of temperature, the season changing to winter was so surreal. The only sign of summer was people wearing less clothing to beat the heat, but winter had snow. Sure, it hadn't snowed a lot, yet, but there was still clusters of snow on the ground, preserved by the cold snap and little snow that the week had given them after the light fall on the weekend. So no one called him on being insane with just a tshirt on, Gokudera's thrown on a sweater as he goes on his walk today, but curiosity's gotten the best of him. He crouches down by one of the patches of snow, picking some up in his hands. Yeah, even completely frozen water felt the same as everything else. Wet was a really strange feeling, when there's no accompanying temperature.
feel free to call him on being weird and staring into his hands as if he's broken. ]

EDIT@08:16 UTC/GMT. Wow. That was ugly. I expected it to go for 30 minutes and have maybe 1 minute of broken connectivity. Instead it lasted over 4 hours and we had 10 minutes of downtime directly related to the load balancer upgrades and then another 5-10 minutes of downtime when our primary Pingback database server crashed and the secondary couldn't take over; which could have been indirectly caused by the network upgrade missing a self-VIP.
Anyways, we're up, we're working, the load balancers are barely breaking a sweat right now and I need some food and a shot of whiskey. I don't even *like* whiskey!!
Thanks mhwest and dnewhall for helping out!
---
On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.
Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.
We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!
As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

Age: 171 (pretends to be 18) Height: around 5'2" (157 cm) Weight: about 82lbs (40.4 kg) (Stats taken from here) Eyes: Deep blue Hair: Black
Medical info: Well aside from being pregnant she is perfectly healthy. The catch? She's not human in the least. While her anatomy resembles that of a human, her actual physiology is vastly different from humans and more closely related to a bat. She instantly regenerates from most injuries unless she has suffered extreme blood loss or hasn't feed for a long period of time.
What's okay to mention around her: She doesn't really care what is mentioned around her. But mentioning her sister and/or mentioning the name Joel will either irritate her or send her off the deep end. Depending on her mood that day.
Notes for the psychics: Her mind is all over the place. A psychic would likely find that she is too chaotic to read anything more than the chaos.
Abilities: Power/abilities wise, Diva has the similar abilities of a vampire, super strength (she can palm thrust a metal hatch off its hinges), super speed ( which makes it seem like she is teleporting), excellent vision and hearing (can actually pick out specific heartbeats from long distances). She is capable of leaping/jumping over long distances and if she drinks a human's blood she can take on their appearance(as demonstrated by her ability to change into Riku and Amshel shapeshifting into that Red Shield agent he killed early on in the series). She must drink blood on a fairly regular basis to keep her senses and powers sharpened.
While she can be heavily injured, her body will heal the damage fairly quickly. It can heal faster if she drinks the blood of one of her chevaliers, but fresh human blood will help her heal too. The only things that can truly kill her is her sister's blood or beheading her. Her blood is poisonous to any chiropterans that were created from her sister's blood and vice versa. Diva's song has a mesmerizing effect on chiropterans as well as some humans. Any human who has been exposed to chiropteran blood or Delta 67 (a serum created from Diva's blood), will transform into mindless chiropterans upon hearing Diva's song. She is only awake for a few years at a time, before she has to go into a 30 year sleep cycle.
Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Sure you can shapeshift, as long you don't mind her shapeshifting. I'd like any bodyswapping to be discussed first. As for spitting or stepping on, you can try but she won't exactly stand still and she could react violently depending on her mood that day.
Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: She loves to be touched. So hugging and kissing her is a-okay. Just be warned that she can be overly affectionate and want way more than a hug depending on the person.
Maim/murder/death: She's pretty much impossible to kill and if someone attempts to kill her again she'll react violently. It is best to speak to me before any of these are tried on her.
Ask here if you're unsure about something.

And I'm back from hiatus too! Fay and Nataku will have posts up before too long, but thought I should say so anyway. China was fun, I taught little kids how to wear Christmas trees on their heads.
However, you may have missed a name from that list up there. Hikaru is going home, tis the season for drops, it seems. I've just been really busy with school and have been struggling with activity because of it and so I want to cut down my character list a little. Hikaru's the only one I can stand to part with, atm, plus her muse has been completely dead lately.
As for notes... Tsun Tsun gets one, stating that she's really glad to have met him and that she thinks he's a wonderful person and she hopes he's really happy. Also, she thinks that no matter who or what he is in the Real World or who or what he is in The World, he's a fantastic person who should be very proud of himself.
Mileina gets one! Saying thanks for being her friend and for the hat and for sharing her clothes. Everyone else in CB gets one too, saying thank you for having her and she loves you all~*~*~
Also, Kul the Geodude has been given instructions to go to stay with his godfather, the one who came up with his name. :) So The House of CLAMP will find him on their doorstop any day now, it might take him a while to get there. He's to stay with Kurogane, but any other members of the house are free to adopt him instead. /never runs these things by Liz first ever

I... return! Kind of.
Only four of my muses are returning. Three of them are going home.
Tobias, Motoko, and Al are going home.
Tobias and Motoko didn't really know anyone well enough to leave anything, but Al...
Basically he would have written short notes to anyone he considered 'close', and for Wrath and Ed he would have written long notes. Wrath... he would have told to try to be happy and to try to make sure he took care of himself. Ed... he would have written a very long note to, probably full of things scratched out and what would mostly boil down to an extended version of "it'll all work out in the end. Take care of yourself, be safe, and be happy. I love you."

I've been putting this off for too long- but Michel's going home. It just feels like he's done his time, and deserves a little peace. So tonight, he'll be sneaking, maybe not so quietly, out of CBhaus, silver key in hand on his way to the clock tower.
Everyone in CB will have a long, detailed letter saying goodbye, telling them all to keep their noses clean, etc. Alle and Lockon will be warned that they need to take damn good care of each other, Tieria's will say he needs to smile more, or Michel will come back and make him. Hikaru's and Mili's will include instructions to be wary of (other) guys like him when they get older- and an extra thank you to Mili for the hat. To Kanan, he will pass on the mantle of the parental unit of CBhaus, and ask her to make sure everyone stays in line. Sylar will get a long diatribe reminding him that he is only as much a monster as he makes himself out to be, Elle's will include a request to keep Sylar out of trouble for him. And lastly, Toshiko. Her letter will be a very long letter of apology. Were there nothing else to keep him here, he would stay for her. But while he can't explain why, Michel knew he had to leave- he did make one caevat, in that he would be waiting patiently for her wherever it was that the door will take him.
As for my other characters, Tsukasa and Renna will be sticking around for now. My life is just kind of hellish right now, and I'm finding my creativity regularly sapped out of me, to be replaced by seething hatred for my job and those I have to interact with for it.

The empire strikes backIn recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.
RSS feeds againIf you're addicted to , icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.
